Things I need to get off my chest.

  • Continue

    Hey everyone,

Life got in between writing again. In a few days, the busiest month of the year starts at work, so that will occupy my brain for a while. When I was your man needs a final spelling and grammar check and one last read through. With a few more changes it will hopefully be online soon. I should probably continue with Until you fall asleep too. All in good time on a good day.

    Lots of love,
    Martijn

  • More chapters

    Hey everyone,

The other four chapters of When I was your man are also done. They are called Prisons, Wreck, Shattered and Presence. This means that the story will be divided into a total of eight chapters. Now that this story has been translated from Dutch to English and changed around here and there, it’s time for the final big read-through and changes. I could just throw it out there right now, but I am still missing the things that make it a cohesive and complete story.

Unlike The Things that I have kept from you, this is not a collection of short stories, but it should read like a complete story. So it’s time to go through it all again before I release it. I hope you can wait just a little longer.

    Lots of love,
    Martijn

  • Chapters

    Hello everyone,

I have finally found some time and I have been editing the first four chapters of When I was your man. These chapters are called Playing, Departure, Left and Anxious. Next up, I will work on the other four chapters and check everything for spelling and grammar mistakes.

Life has been extremely busy and quite stressful lately, so all of this is taking a little more time than I expected. Next time I will tell you some more about this short story.

    Lots of love,
    Martijn

  • Cover reveal

    Hello digital people,

I have something quite lovely that I’d like to share with you — the cover for When I Was Your Man. It’s a short story that isn’t finished yet, but I’ve been working on it here and there, and it’s finally starting to take shape into something interesting. I don’t have much more to share for now, except for this fellow.

    Lots of love,
    Martijn

  • In Berlin

    Hello everyone,

It’s been a while since I posted an update here. That’s because I have been busy with a brand-new job that I really enjoy so far. I have also been busy putting together the outlines of a new short story called When I Was Your Man.

I’m currently in Berlin, but I will share something new when I come back next week. I also wanted to quickly say thank you to everyone checking in and reading my stories. I really, really appreciate every one of you.

    Lots of love,

    Martijn

  • Saints

    Hello everyone,

I hope you are all doing well as summer seems to be leaving for this year. Colder and darker days are up ahead and houses become cozier. I will be busy making soups, stews and oven dishes again during my favorite time of the year. I will be replaying horror and fantasy games and, hopefully, I will slowly get back into reading again too. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the summer. But fall and winter have a different kind of charm.

A final short story called Saints has been added to the website. With Until You Fall Asleep still feeling like a daunting task, I might try to translate When I was your man first. A different short story that happened somewhere in between. So Saints will be the last one-page story for a while.

    Lots of love,
    Martijn

  • Beckon

    Hello everyone,

A new short story has been added to the website called Beckon. This one is a little different from the others as it has a sexually explicit warning. It’s nothing heavy, I just say some dirty words in it. I hope you still like it regardless, or maybe you will like it even more. Let me know.

    Lots of love,
    Martijn

  • De dingen

    Beste lezers,

    Martijn

  • Oester

    Hey everyone,

The final three short stories of the Dutch version of The Things That I Have Kept From You have been added to the website. Misschien, Rust and Oester are the last three translated stories. Or perhaps it was the other way around, as they all once started as notes in Dutch on my phone. I hope my Dutch readers enjoy it.

    Lots of love,
    Martijn

  • Plekje

    Hey everyone,

Knikken, Leegte, Fakkel and Plekje are the latest Dutch translations for De dingen die ik voor je verborgen heb gehouden. With only three more translations left, this project is almost finished. After that I will turn the Dutch version of this collection of stories into a downloadable PDF document.

The English short stories Beckon and Saints will soon be added to the website too. After that I will continue with Until You Fall Asleep.

    Lots of love,
    Martijn
