Nightlight

The final closing chapter of Until You Fall Asleep is here, and it’s called Nightlight. In this short final chapter, the story wraps up nicely. Our main character looks back on how things started and ahead into the future, ending with a short reflection on nightlife and how the dance floor unites us, something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately.

It feels strange to finally finish this story online. I wrote it such a long time ago that it feels like this should have been uploaded well before When I Was Your Man and The Things That I Have Kept From You were put online. But I felt like this needed more time to settle, as it is the biggest story so far. I still feel like it could use a lot of editing, and that worries me in its current state. But I guess I can do whatever I want. And for now, it’s okay for it to exist the way it is.

There’s no way of sharing personal work without that fear taking hold a little, I guess, the fear of it not being good enough, the fear of imperfections, of plot points not connecting, or the overall story not being cohesive enough. Maybe no one will even like it, but maybe some people will.

I see it as another learning process. Another chapter that will slowly move me forward in becoming a better writer.
